Yosemite has effected many peoples lives. The Ahwahneechee lives on this land for many generations of their people. Then European travelers came to explore followed by european-americans taking the long journey on the Oregon trail to get to California where they hear legends of gold. People flocked to Yosemite after hearing about the amazing landscapes and huge towering mountains. John Muir was the man who lead the fight for conservation. He spent many years of his life living in the forest and climbing mountains, immersing himself in nature. He went on a special trip with President Theodore Roosevelt where he convinced him to protect Yosemite and create a National Park. There was overgrazing of the fields due to animals and breath taking giant Sequoia being cut down. If Muir did not take action soon it would be too late to save. This year the National Parks are celebrating their 100 year anniversary. Yosemite has been enjoyed for many years and will still be around for future generations so they may understand how much nature can impact them.
