These two artits have both experienced Yosemite in their lives and have become famous for their depictions of this beautiful park. Their work has been spread world-wide sparking the interest of many others to travel or learn about Yosemite. Many people associate these men with Yosemite because of the talent they have to capture in unique ways the amazing qualities of the land. Chiura Obata came to the U.S. never before seeing landscapes like this, with fresh eyes and his creativity he was able to produce paintings that showed the park in a style most Americans those days have not seen. Ansel Adams loved to work in black and white photography. He would caculate his shutter speed according to the light at the time and be able to do further work in the dark room to emphazise the mountians and sky. This takes a special kind of skill and knowledge and today we do not see the same quality photographs that he loved to shoot. Both these people have had a huge impact on Yosemite and have influenced thousands of people to protect and explore California's vast landscapes.

Chiura Obata

This well known artist has many spectacular paintings of Yosemite. He came to the United States in 1903, when he was 17 years old and spend the summer of 1927 on a trip throughout Yosemite making over 100 paintings. You can expereience the park through his paintings and see how he interpreted the beautiful landscape.

Ansel Adams

This photographer was well known for the images he shot all around Yosemite. He discovered his passion for photography in 1916, when he took a trip to the park with his family. He was taken aback by all of the gorgeous landscapes and soon returned to capture more of it the following year. He best liked to shoot in black and white, working to adjust the exporsure just right. Without seeing Yosemite, Adams would have never discovered his true passion for life and many others would not have seen these unique photos.
